Nurse Builders Academy

There are two components of the Nursing Assistant course, consisting of One Hundred Fifty (150) hours combining lecture, skills lab and clinical practice. Some of the course objectives:

  • Roles and Responsibilities of a Nursing Assistant
  • Residentís Rights
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Prevention and Management of Catastrophe and Unusual Occurrences
  • Body Mechanics
  • Medical & Surgical Asepsis
  • Weights & Measures
  • Patient Care Skills
*(Must be CNA to take this course)

Consists of 40 hours combining lecture and skills, and clinical practice.

  • Introduction to Aides and Agency role
  • Interpretation of medical and social needs of the client.
  • Personal care services.
  • Nutrition.
  • Cleaning and tasks in the home setting.

This is an 80-hour program designed for the Certified Nursing Assistant to provide optimal physical, mental, and psychological functioning of the resident through training in the following skills to enhance the clientís/residentís quality of life:

  • Ambulation and transfers
  • Range of motion exercises
  • Activities of daily living
  • Splint and brace application
  • Mobility
  • Communication

This program consists of 40 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of clinical practicum at a rehabilitation/long term care facility.

*ACUTE CARE NURSING ASSISTANT *(Must be CNA to take this course)

This course is designed to prepare the Certified Nursing Assistant a review of their skills with emphasis placed on specialized acute care areas such as medical, surgical, orthopedic, pediatric, and obstetrical units. Basic academic, communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills are reinforced throughout the course. This program consists a total of 116 hours; 68 hours of classroom instruction and 48 hours of clinical practicum at an Acute Care Facility. At the completion of the course, students will demonstrate knowledge of skills required to assist the nurse in providing nursing care and services to the patient in an acute care setting.

*SENIOR NURSE ASSISTANT *(Must be CNA to take this course)

The Senior Nurse Assistant course consisting of Fifty (50) hours combining Forty (40) hours of lecture and Ten (10) hours of lab. Some of the course objectives are:

  • Serve as a role model
  • Assist in an enabling work environment
  • Participate in facility meeting
  • Assist with quality assurance
  • Serve in a clerical role of record maintenance for required accreditation

The Healthcare Communication and Public Relation course consisting of Fifty (50) hours combining Twenty Five (25) hours of lecture and Twenty Five hours of interaction/practice. This program is designed to provide an understanding of effective communication and persuasion strategies while explaining the different cultures that bridge tolls and techniques in Healthcare Communication and Public Relation.
